May 23, 2019 -- Mount St. Mary's men's lacrosse standouts Chris DiPretoro and Jack Mangan were selected to play in the 2019 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Senior All-Star Game at US Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Maryland on Friday, May 24. The Division I/II game is set to begin at 7:30 p.m, while the Division III game will open the double header at 5 p.m. Admission is free, and both contests will be streamed on Lax Sports Network.
With a pair of selections this year, Mount St. Mary's has now had 21 players chosen for the prestigous game. This season marks the fifth time that the Mountaineers have sent multiple players, and is the first instance since 2015, when Bubba Johnson and Justin Gosnell were selected.
DiPretoro was one of the Mount's top offensive threats since stepping on campus back in 2016. He led the Mountaineers in scoring for the third straight season in 2019, tallying a team-high 36 goals and 43 points en route to earning an All-Northeast Conference (NEC) Second Team selection. DiPretoro ranked eighth in the NEC with 2.19 goals per game, tallying multi-goal performances in 12 of 16 games on the year. The Owings, Maryland product is tied for sixth place on the Mount's all-time goals list with 124 in his career.
Mangan, a four-time team MVP for the Mountaineers, earned NEC honors for the third time in his career this season with an All-NEC First Team selection. One of the conference's top all-around players, Mangan ranked second on the Mount with 59 ground balls and 23 caused turnovers, while also adding 20 points on the offensive end. Mangan notched 74 caused turnovers in his career, which is the most-ever by a Mountaineer since it became an official stat, and is also tied for sixth in program history with 205 ground balls.
