March 30, 2019---Justin Kimble broke the Mount's 47-year old school record in the 100m dash at the Raleigh Relays on Friday to highlight a busy weekend for the Mount St. Mary's men's and women's outdoor track and field teams. The Mount competed at both the Raleigh Relays and the Navy Spring meet this weekend.
Kimble broke the Mount's longtime record in the 100m dash with a blistering time of 10.40 seconds. The previous time of 10.44h was set by Tony Ambush on May 26, 1972, at the NCAA Tournament in Ashland, Ohio. Kimble finished in second place in the 100m behind Eastern Michigan's Terrell Posada (10.28). Kimble had a 12th-place finish in the 200m dash at the meet with a time of 21.72 seconds.
Colin Waitzman was sixth in the pole vault (4.72m) while Carter Nave finished in eighth place with a vault of 4.57m. The Mount's 4x800m relay team of Brandon Briscoe, Isaac Kole, Branden Roach and Benjamin Finnigan finished 12th with a time of 7:46.00. Matthew Selba was 12th in the discus with a toss of 48.60m (159' 5") with that mark putting him fourth on the Mount's all-time list. Brian Sagendorf was 10th in the javelin with a toss of 58.81m and Dylan LaNoue eighth in the high jump (2.00m).
For the women's team at Raleigh, Kayla Barnes was 14th in the 100m dash (12.22) and eighth in the 200m (24.57). The 4x100m relay team of Najae Nickerson, Barnes, Dominique Jeffery and Mariah McLane was ninth with atime of 47.42 seconds. The 4x400m squad of Chalys Caruth, Chardane Logan, McLane and Jeffery finished 10th with a time of 3:50.20 while Erin Sample was 10th in the shot put with a throw of 14.17m (46' 6").
At the Navy Spring Meet, Jameela Buchanan (25.90) was second in the 200m dash while Rene Rosso finished fourth in the 110m hurdles (14.91). Alexandra Kay had a third place finish in the 3000m steeplechase (12:17.62) while Courtney Hawkins was fifth in the shot put (12.19m) and the discus (38.88m). Kenna Hopkins added a fifth-place mark in the javelin.
Justyn Seivright won the 400m hurdles at Navy with a time of 55.72 seconds with teammate Dhane Schmelyun finishing third (57.34). Kevin Dorsey was fifth in the 5,000m run with Jonathan Burns placing second in the high jump (1.84m).
