Bowling Gears Up for First NEC Meet

Saturday, November 9-Sunday, November 10

ABC West Lanes | Mechanicsburg, Pa.

EMMITSBURG, Maryland (Nov. 7, 2019) - Mount St. Mary's bowling looks to continue their winning ways as they face the entire group of Northeast Conference (NEC) rivals this weekend.

Mount St. Mary's comes into the first conference meet following three trophy finishes in four appearances to start the year. The team split last weekend, with the USBC Varsity Team taking first at the Penn State Classic in State College and a runner-up finish from the main sqaud at the Virginia Union Invitational.

At Virginia Union, Rebecca Dodson earned MVP and All-Tournament Team honors, leading the Mount to a 9-3 record on the weekend. Tamera Stanton joined Dodson on the All-Tournament squad.

The Mount - ranked #21 in the nation - stands at 22-9 this year.

The first NEC meet is exclusively made up of Baker matches. Mount will play seven rounds - six versus opponents and a bye, which occurs on Saturday. Competition begins at 11:15 a.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday.

All seven teams in the NEC that sponsor bowling will be present. Six of the seven squads were ranked in the initial National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) poll. Mount was ranked 21st by the NTCA, and the NEC is represented in a range topped by Fairleigh Dickinson (9th) to Long Island (24th). The Mountaineers have only challenged Long Island so far, coming away with a 968-847 victory at the Bud Whitman Memorial on opening weekend.

This is the second of three meets for the Mount in November. The team will compete at the Stallings Invitational in Greensboro, N.C. next weekend. There will also be two more NEC meets - one in December and a finale in February.
